Central Ontario Pony Club Members Do Well At National Tetrathlon
Central Ontario competitors did well at the Canadian Pony Club National Tetrathlon Championships, held August 3-8 based at Queen Margaret’s School in Duncan, British Columbia.
Central Ontario riders swept the top three places in the Senior Men Division, with Zackary McCue of the Kawartha Pony Club first, his brother James McCue second, and Ian Hutcheson of the Centaurus Pony Club third.
Brittany Emery of the Toronto & North York Pony Club was second in the Senior Women Division, with Kendal Lehari fifth and Courtney Cotter tenth (both also from Toronto & North York).
In the Junior Women Division, Maddie Baker was second and Karen Foell fifth – two more Toronto & North York members.
Central Ontario had no entries in the Junior Men Division.
Team scores are based on both Senior and Junior Division scores combined. Central Ontario won the Women’s competition (Maddie Baker, Karen Foell, Brittany Emery and Kendal Lehari) with a mixed Nova Scotia/Western Ontario team second and a mixed Alberta South/Central Ontario/Western Ontario team third (including Courtney Cotter). A mixed Central Ontario/Western Ontario team won the Men’s competition (including Ian Hutcheson), with a mixed Central Ontario/BC Islands team second (including Zackary and James McCue).
Tetrathlon is a very demanding competition with four parts: swimming, shooting with air pistols, cross-country running and horse jumping (both stadium jumping and cross-country jumping).
